Suspicious Content: Sediments and Soils of the Apostle Islands—Part 2

This presentation, hosted by Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve, will be about the sediments left at the end of glacial deposition, the soils that have developed on those glacial‐age sediments, and end with modern beach sediments. With Dr. Tom Fitz,  Professor of Geoscience at Northland College. This event is free and open to the public.

A Walk by the Springs

Three Springs Nature Preserve, 10442 Three Springs Rd Sister Bay, 54234 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
Join Door County Land Trust for a walk through the swampy forests and coastal marshes of Three Springs preserve, and learn why this critical habitat for land and aquatic wildlife is a part of one of the most highly ranked conservation corridors on the Great Lakes. This will be an approximately 1-mile walk over fairly level terrain. All kids attending will receive a free nature journal and outdoor activity kit at the completion of the walk. This event is free and open to the public.

On this informative walk, Door County Land Trust leaders will focus on how they are working with nature to restore lands by leveraging the natural resilience of native trees, and the subtle indicators of ecosystem health that can be found in landscapes if you know where to look. This will be an approximately 1-mile walk over fairly level terrain. All kids attending will receive a free nature journal and outdoor activity kit at the completion of the walk. This event is free and open to the public.

Guided Summer Hike: Guide Ned Hancock—NE Trails

Join Madeline Island Wilderness Preserve as we explore and hike the rustic trails of Madeline Island. MIWP members will guide all the hikes. The hikes will wander through old Hemlock stands, old Lake Superior shorelines and hopefully an abundance of wild mushrooms. Trail route will vary pending trail conditions—hike may be an out/back or shore­‐to‐shore route. This event is free and open to the public.

Ride to the Barns

Join Tall Pines Conservancy for Ride to the Barns, their fundraising bicycle ride through Lake Country and rolling farmland in Waukesha, Washington and Dodge counties. Rest stops include farms serving locally produced food to highlight farmland preservation. The ride ends with a post party featuring food, beer, refreshments and live music.
