Art Discovery Day

Hosted by the Aldo Leopold Foundation. Art Day is fun for the whole family! Discover new art, see demonstrations, talk with artists, and even start holiday shopping a little early. Each year, regional artists and artisans whose work is inspired by the land ethic and the natural world are chosen to exhibit their work at the Leopold Center. This year, we invite you to join us as we close out our visitation and season and celebrate our 10th annual Art Day! This event is free and open to the public.

Seasons in the Coulee Region: Fall Hike

La Crosse Bluffland - Hass Tract 10:00 AM
Hosted by Mississippi Valley Conservancy. Come along with us as we hike to the top of the La Crosse Blufflands – Hass Tract where we will spend about 15 minutes of doing a series of relaxing yoga poses while taking in the spectacular views of the river valley. This time in nature will leave you refreshed with a sense of peace and energized for the day ahead.

Wingspan Open House

Goose Pond Sanctuary is now home to a brand new landmark. The Wingspan observation platform, peeking out of Bicentennial Prairie and overlooking beautiful Goose Pond, is nearing completion. And it looks amazing. Madison Audubon Society invites you to visit next Sunday, October 29, 1:00-4:00 p.m. to explore this new addition to the sanctuary, made possible by John and Marlen Kaiser and many generous donors, and honoring long-time sanctuary resident managers Mark Martin and Susan Foote-Martin. Come walk the prairie. Sit on the new oak slab benches under the pavilion's wings. See what birds are visiting the sanctuary through the provided spotting scopes. Chat with your fellow nature nuts and bird enthusiasts. Leave with a newfound or rekindled love for Goose Pond.

Lake Michigan Birding

Lake Michigan Shoreline 6:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Hosted by Madison Audubon. Join us as we bird Lake Michigan and its shoreline during the migration of waterfowl through Milwaukee, Ozaukee, and Sheboygan Counties. We will be scoping the lake for surf, black, and white-winged scoter, long-tailed duck, harlequin duck, and red-throated loon.
