The Cedar Lakes Conservation Foundation (CLCF) celebrated its 50th anniversary with an event at Schloemer Family’s Paradise Valley Farm.
CLCF is one of the oldest land trusts in Wisconsin. Since its inception in 1974, CLCF has protected approximately 2,962 acres in the Cedar Lakes watershed, which is about 22% of the land in the organization’s target area.
The land trust put together its first formal five-year strategic plan covering 2019-2024, during which it acquired 14 parcels with an investment of more than $6 million.
Over the next five years (2024-2028), the land trust hopes to protect another 600 acres with an investment of $12 million. If they achieve that goal, by 2028, the organization will protect 3,600 acres, realizing the vision of safeguarding 30% of watershed lands conserved.
“As we have often said, there are limited number of ways to make an impact that last beyond a lifetime,” Linda Mutschler, CLCF Executive Director said. “”Protecting land is one of those ways.”
