2008 Harold “Bud” Jordahl Lifetime
Achievement Award: Emily Earley

Gathering Waters Conservancy presents the 2008 Harold “Bud” Jordahl Lifetime Achievement Award to Emily H. Earley, for her tireless leadership in promoting environmental protection and land conservation throughout Wisconsin and abroad.  She has served on and inspired countless conservation boards, councils and committees while receiving various awards for her initiatives.  From Wisconsin to Nicaragua, Emily has lived the last forty-plus years of her life as an exemplary model of leadership, stewardship, activism, volunteerism, advocacy, philanthropy and so much more.

“Emily is an important and respected fixture in Wisconsin’s environmental community.  Yet the word ‘fixture’ does not accurately convey the forward movement of Emily’s active, enthusiastic, get-things-done approach.  Emily is in fact not a fixture, rather a voice, a call to action, a spirit, a spit-fire.  We are inheriting a much cleaner, greener Wisconsin thanks to Emily.  This is indeed a Lifetime Achievement to celebrate.”

~ Tia Nelson, Executive Secretary, Board of Commissioners of Public Lands

“I can think of few individuals who have made such a difference….  Many of our leading conservationists and environmental organizations owe some of their start to Emily’s encouragement, generosity, and spirit.  She has personally inspired so many of us to do our best on behalf of conservation.”

~ Jim Welsh, Executive Director, Dane County Natural Heritage Foundation
