Alan Sweeney is a lifelong resident of the Town of Porter in northwestern Rock County. Alan farms almost 1,300 acres and is a third-generation farmer. He is dedicated not just to the land he farms but to the region in which he lives. He is dedicated to preservation of farmland and to ensuring that agriculture remains vital to Wisconsin’s identity and economy. In spite of the time constraints of raising a family and farming full-time, Alan has devoted much of his time in recent years to public service, and in particular to farmland preservation.
Alan has served as a Rock County Board supervisor since 2006, representing the Towns of Union, Porter, Fulton, and Milton in northwestern and north-central Rock County. Additionally, Alan has served as Chair of the Town of Porter’s Planning and Zoning Committee for many years. As a County Board Supervisor, and Chair of the Rock County Purchase of Agricultural Conservation Easements (PACE) Program Ad Hoc Committee, Alan has been a leader and guiding force behind the recent development of the Rock County PACE Program.
“[Alan] Sweeney has been a real leader in efforts to sustain, promote, and enhance agriculture in Rock County, ensuring it remain strong, stable, and viable.” – Doug Rebout, President, Rock County Farm Bureau
