Call for Nominations

Gathering Waters Conservancy’s Land Conservation Leadership Awards recognize the outstanding accomplishments of individuals, policy makers and land trusts working to protect Wisconsin’s special places.

These awards honor the power of committed citizens and offer inspiring examples of conservation success. We encourage you to submit a nomination for a deserving individual or organization:  (Please visit our website for more detailed award descriptions and a listing of previous winners.)

Land Trust of the Year:  This award is given to organizations that have created lasting conservation in Wisconsin.

Policy Maker of the Year:  This award is bestowed on a public representative or body that has demonstrated exceptional conservation leadership in an official capacity.

Conservationist of the Year: This award is given to an individual or group who has shown a commitment to protecting the natural resources of Wisconsin through personal or group action.

Lifetime Achievement Award: This award honors outstanding achievement and a lifelong commitment to the protection of Wisconsin’s natural resources.

Rod Nilsestuen Award for Working Lands Preservation: This award recognizes individuals or organizations that exhibit extraordinary commitment to the preservation of Wisconsin’s working lands. It honors Rod Nilsestuen’s legacy as a longtime Wisconsin agriculture, cooperative and conservation leader.

Harold “Bud” Jordahl Distinction: Bud Jordahl dedicated his life to preserving Wisconsin’s special places. This distinction serves as an ongoing tribute to one of Wisconsin’s pioneers in private land conservation.

There is no nomination form, but please include all of the following information in your nomination:

  • Name, address, phone, and email of the nominee
  • Name, address, phone, and email of the nominator
  • The category for which you are nominating the nominee
  • Describe the actions and accomplishments the nominee has made to advance land conservation in the state.  Describe how the nominee’s leadership helped protect the places that make Wisconsin special.
  • We encourage the submission of supporting materials such as additional letters of recommendation, newspaper articles, photos, maps, or other resources.
