Join Landmark Conservancy to build and install bluebird nest boxes! Each participant will build two boxes – one to take home and one to install at Landmark’s Mary E. Fitz Memorial Park. No carpentry experience necessary.

Bluebirds are considered fairly common, but their numbers have declined substantially during the last century. Populations have been given a boost by the installation of nest boxes that have become popular in natural areas as well as parks and backyards.

Meet at Beaver Creek Reserve to build nest boxes, then head out to the Mary E. Fitz Memorial Park just south of Eau Claire to install nest boxes. Participants will learn about bluebird behavior, habitat, and nest box requirements. This event is the beginning of a project for the Mary E. Fitz Memorial Park to host a Bluebird Nest Box Trail as part of Beaver Creek Reserve’s Bluebird Restoration Project. Volunteer monitors are needed for spring of 2026.

Bring gloves to handle wood and tools and sturdy shoes for walking on uneven ground. Be prepared to be indoors as well as outdoors in an open area with little protection from wind and sun. There may be brambles. Drills will also be available for use, but bring your own drill if you’d like.

Cost: $30 per person. To make this event accessible to all income levels, there is a free option on the registration form. Please select this option if the cost of this event would be a barrier to your participation. No questions asked.
