Join the Door County Land Trust to plant trees for The Big Plant. Trees filter groundwater, provide habitat for birds and wildlife, improve air quality, and pull carbon from the atmosphere back into the earth.

Training in proper planting techniques will be demonstrated at the beginning of each session. Working as a trio, volunteers will carry buckets of bare-root seedlings to designated areas, dig holes, place trees at the proper depth, and tamp down soil around the seedlings.

Many hands make lighter work, but tree-planting takes a lot of energy. Please bring a water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen, and wear layers of clothing. The Land Trust will have a water refill station and provide the world’s finest granola bars.

Sign up for either morning (10 am to 12 pm) or afternoon (12:30 pm to 3 pm) times. If you’re feeling ambitious and would like to work both time slots, please sign up for both the morning and afternoon sessions. Due to the planting demo, please be on time.

This event is free of charge and open to the public. If weather is an issue on the event date, activities will reschedule for April 24th.

Questions may be directed to Door County Land Trust’s Community Conservation Coordinator, Paige Witek at stewardship@doorcountylandtrust.org.

The words "Door county, Big Plant" overlay a cartoon graphic of a tree. A shovel is propped up on one side of the tree and there is a small red, white, and black bird resting on the other side. Behind the cartoon graphic is a low-res photo of a pine tree.
