April 19 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Northwoods Land Trust (NWLT) will have a booth at the Mercer Library’s Earth Day Fair on Saturday, April 19 from 10 am to noon. The fair highlights the many ways you can practice sustainable and eco-friendly living. Door prizes will include gift baskets, outdoor hummingbird feeders, a native bee hotel, and the ever-popular rain barrel.
Following the fair, Frank Schroyer, NWLT’s Conservation Associate, will lead a hike at Beaver Creek Hemlocks Conservation Area in Sherman, Iron County, from 1 to 3 pm. In addition to looking for and learning about the unique flora and fauna, special attention will be given to how forests like this contribute to mitigating climate change through carbon storage. This will be a slow-paced hike that covers approximately 1.5 miles, with frequent stops to observe and talk about what we see. If you’d like to join the hike, there will be a sign-up sheet at the fair. Email Frank with any questions.
