Geology and Paddling on the Gile Flowage

Discover the Gile Flowage, a paddling gem in Iron County, while learning about ecology, natural history and geology.

The Gile Flowage is located in Iron County and was created by a dam on the West Branch of the Montreal River. During the paddle, participants will be able to look at plants and animals that they encounter, discuss federal licensing of the Gile Dam, and learn about some of the geological features of the area.  

Expect to paddle around 2-3 miles. Participants need to provide their own watercraft, paddles, life jackets, snacks, and water. 

Pre-registration is requested by Monday, August 21. This event is free, but space is limited. Register here.
