Attend a three-hour sea kayaking trip on Lake Superior! Learn about shipwrecks, history, and the current status as well as the future vision for the Brownstone Trail that runs along the shore.

This is a great opportunity for first-time kayakers or anyone who has wanted to kayak on the Big Lake but hasn’t had the chance. The paddle is approximately 3 miles in length and is rated as easy.

Leaving Bayfield, participants paddle south, where rugged brownstone cliffs and forests meet impossibly clear water. Along the way, see the Finn McCool shipwreck and other relics of local history. Marvel at Bayfield’s beauty from the water, learn about notable features of the town’s present and hear stories of the past, and hear about Landmark Conservancy’s work with the beloved Brownstone Trail.

If the trip needs to be canceled due to high winds, waves, or storms, guests can reschedule, obtain a credit towards a future trip of the same value, or receive a full refund. Landmark Conservancy must cancel the trip for guests to be eligible for these options.

What to bring:  Plan for variable weather conditions (rain gear if appropriate). It is suggested that participants bring water, sunscreen/hat/sunglasses, comfortable clothes, snacks, and a camera.

Amenities: Bathrooms are available at the start and end of the trip.

Cost: $70. Includes mandatory use of tandem sea kayaks for safety.

Registration is required as capacity is limited. Register here
