More than 100 volunteers added about a mile of Ice Age Trail and 100-foot boardwalk in the Sheboygan County during the Ice Age Trail Alliance‘s latest Mobile Skills Crew trailbuilding event. The new trail will expand the LaBudde Creek Segment, which runs through the LaBudde Creek Fishery Area.

Building and maintaining trail is done almost entirely by volunteers, who contribute thousands of hours of their time each year.

“It is all a grassroots type of event, so we have people that come from all over the state, even outside of the state sometimes,” said Mark Ormsby, who volunteers with the Ice Age Trail Alliance. “When it first started 50-plus years ago, it was just an idea, but now it is actually 1,200-plus miles, and we’re slowly trying to connect all those miles.”
