Landmark Conservancy received a $100,000 grant from the Mary H. Rice Foundation for the Brownstone Trail restoration project near Bayfield. Mary Rice was a philanthropist and arts benefactor from Bayfield who died in December 2020.

With this funding, the land trust has now raised over half of the funds to stabilize and restore the Brownstone Trail, which is estimated to cost $1.2 million, according to this article in the Ashland Daily Press.

Landmark Conservancy signed an agreement earlier this year to purchase the property by the end of 2022.
