The Door County Land Trust (DCLT) will protect another 13 acres of land between the Niagara Escarpment and the Green Bay shoreline. Local landowners donated a conservation easement on their property just south of Egg Harbor in November. The property features a variety of trees and a large concentration of the federally threatened Dwarf Lake Iris flower.
“In an area facing unprecedented development pressure, preserving these 13 acres of habitat ensures a sanctuary for natives as Door County continues to rapidly grow,” said DCLT Executive Director Emily Wood. “We’re proud to partner with landowners like Mike and Ann Morgan to give permanence to their vision to protect this special place, and to inspire other landowners to safeguard these unique landscapes before it is too late.”
This is one of eight conservation easement agreements completed in 2024. Along with 10 other land protection projects anticipated to be completed in 2024, DCLT is on track to have a record-breaking year for conservation.
