The Ozaukee Washington Land Trust is working on connecting two of its properties with a trail to improve public access and create a welcoming spot to visit.

Building a connection between the Spirit Lake Preserve and Pukaite Woods and Rotary Park in Mequon was first envisioned by former Mequon Mayor Connie Pukaite. Fundraising, grant money, and the help of volunteers are making this a reality.

“The goal has been to connect two really special properties that have always connected physically and through the woodlands we are in right now, but up until recently, people haven’t had access to walk between those two properties,” said Tom Stolp, Ozaukee Washington Land Trust executive director.
