Isn’t this beautiful?  It’s a photo from the Milwuakee Area Land Conservancy of shooting stars and the land that sustains them, forever protected because of the Conservancy’s work.

We used this photo recently on the cover of our summer newsletter, CrossCurrents, and failed to give due credit to the Milwaukee Area Land Conservancy for the lovely image.  Thanks, MALC!

Milwaukee Area Land ConservancySo, now might be an ironic time to ask our readers to trust us with more photos of Wisconsin’s great outdoors, especially of places preserved forever by Wisconsin’s great land trusts.   If you send us your photos, we promise to credit your talent if we use them.  Honest.

We also just might give you a prize!

Gathering Waters Conservancy is running our first ever photo contest.  Everyone who cares about land in Wisconsin has some stunning photos illustrating why.  We’re willing to bet you all have at least one shutter happy friend, as well.  To all those photographers we say, “please! lend your talent to our mission to help protect Wisconsin’s special places.”

We’re eager to see images of Wisconsin outdoors, of land trust projects, of the gems we enjoy thanks to the Stewardship Fund, and of people playing and working on the land and waters that make us all love Wisconsin.

Contest details, including enticing descriptions of generous cash prizes, certain fame and lasting appreciation are all on our website at gatheringwaters.org/photocontest.

Happy shooting!
