Landmark Conservancy announced that it has secured the necessary funding to purchase the 218-acre Telemark Forest Preserve in Cable, Wisconsin. They reached their $678,000 goal through fundraising and a $203,000 grant through the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program.

The new preserve will continue to serve as a backdrop for the “Birkie” cross-country ski race, and will also be open to the public for recreational opportunities, including hiking, cross-country skiing, and bird watching. The preserve also includes part of the Namekagon River watershed and the St. Croix River, in addition to forestland.
