Gathering Waters presents Wisconsin Land Trust Days, featuring events hosted by Wisconsin land trusts in July, August, and September!

In 2026, we’re excited to promote 42 events hosted by 22 land trusts, and Gathering Waters!

We hope you join the land trust community for this 9th annual celebration of land trusts, highlighting their important work protecting Wisconsin’s land, water, and wildlife.

Attending an event is a great way to spend time outside, connect with your local land trust, or discover a new spot in a different part of the state.

Here are some highlights of what you can experience during Wisconsin Land Trust Days:

  • Hike Wisconsin’s prairies, forests, and bogs
  • Celebrate conservation milestones
  • Paddle through iconic waterways
  • Search for plants and pollinators
  • Discover the impact of urban conservation
  • Soothe your soul with art and mindfulness
  • Cycle through beautiful countryside
  • Help build part of the historic Ice Age National Scenic Trail
  • Learn about birds and other wildlife, and more

Find the full list of 2026 Land Trust Days events here. We hope you join us for a butterfly release event to kick off this season of outdoor adventures!

If you’re not able to attend an event, you can make your own adventure or visit one of these special places.

Request a Calendar or Nature Guide

Request a printed calendar of events or a Wisconsin Nature Guide to help you explore. We’ll send these materials to you in the mail for free! The calendar also features some additional information about land conservation news and activities around the state. The nature guide is a weatherproof, laminated pocket guide that will help you identify many common plants, animals, and other wildlife as you explore Wisconsin’s natural places.

Ask Your Legislators to Be Champions for Nature

Wisconsin’s Knowles-Nelson Stewardship Program is how we protect our land and water. Many of the places you can visit during Land Trust Days were funded by Knowles-Nelson grants. But the legislature has failed to renew Knowles-Nelson in the state budget, and funding is running out. Wisconsin’s best source of conservation funding needs your help!

Contact your legislators today. Tell them what Wisconsin’s land and water mean to you, share what your favorite land trust has done for your community, and demand they get Knowles-Nelson back on track. Every voice counts. Visit Action.KnowlesNelson.org.
