Christmas Trees Harvested to Protect the Environment

The Waukesha County Land Conservancy holds an annual Christmas tree harvest event at the Calhoun Creek Prairie Preserve in New Berlin. Proceeds from the sale support the land trust’s work.

“[The harvest] is at a property that was actually an old Christmas tree farm that we acquired,” Waukesha County Land Conservancy Operations Director Allison Romero said. “Our goal for the property is to restore it to its natural ecosystem. So, that would be oak savanna, prairie, and wetland.”
